Many prisons do not have staff that are trained to put in ultrasound IV access. As a result, the IV can be bad causing the vein to blow, resulting in the chemicals being injected into her adipose tissue rather than reaching her central circulation. That's precisely why she complained that it was burning because the vein blew and it was infiltrating into her adipose tissue. If prisons had staff that were ultrasound IV trained, botched executions like this could be avoided every time.

This will be a legal battle for Colleen’s family. Feel terrible for them because they wanted this so badly. They feel Colleen can’t rest until Pike dies. Such a sad way to feel. Imagine wanting revenge that bad you feel like your daughter isn’t at peace. I believe in my heart Colleen is with Jesus. She’s definitely at peace.

She could have been preparing for it by building her tolerance to the drugs. Drugs are easy to get in prisons. The lethal drug coctail is public knowledge. She had over a decade plenty of motive to take small amounts of those drugs and slowly build up her tolerance.

Somebody set this up!. . . . This story just reeks of tampering. . my guess is the chain of command in handling this drug was mis-managed or more likely not managed in a way that would prevented some bleeding heart from intervening.

Her IV blew and infiltrated, it happens quite frequently when you’re in a medical setting and trying to give an IV infusion with potassium. Somebody probably put a 22 gauge or a 24 gauge or…. You could just say it wasn’t her time.

She was probably cold. I went in for surgery and they couldn’t get a vein for over an hour and had to use an ultrasound to get it right. I was freezing in that hospital gown and it hid my veins

Inmate Caruthers intentionally dehydrated himself so the lines couldn't be placed. August execution had not issues. Do not put it past Pike to have intentionally done the same/similar as Caruthers.

Correction: Pentobarbital is NOT a lethal drug in and of itself.. The DOSE is intended to be lethal. The three-part cocktail is a better idea (sedative/paralyzing agent/heart-stopper) but the bleeding-heart liberals argued for the Tennessee model. It’s all BS anyways; if the STATE had any real concern for the condemned we’d be using the guillotine.
