I think it's safe to say that the human race in general has become more self-conscious and so we self edit ourselves in public spaces. Of course there will always be people who are the exception and they will cast aside their inhibitions.

How this funny guy is so insightful, eloquent and an erudite. He quotes highbrow authors all the time.
Would it make sense to say that maybe what is happening is that we hear ourselves SO much, and that holds hs back. We don't like what we see. We don't dance anymore because watching, say, practice waltez grants beauty faster? Does that make sense?
