Ola I plan to visit Tunisia as we fell in love with Morocco. Your video is very compelling and will help inspire my family to join me as well as going to Algeria
I learned on our tour of Faz that the houses that connect between buildings is often built for newly married people who can’t afford their own house but need to live near family. So they gain permission from the owners of the other homes to annex them together for the newlyweds and the hope that when their kids get married they will be able to use for future generations

Hello from London!,

I just came across this video and your channel. What amazing commentary and footage of Tunisia!. I have never been there myself nor have I ever travelled abroad but I would love to go one day.

In terms of Tunisia’s people and work ethic, it reminds me so much of Yemen. I feel as if the cultures have some stuff in common!. Seeing those stalls and crafts remind me much of that and yet both are unique in their own ways. The work ethic is similar, despite hard conditions & poverty that many may face, the people of Tunisia seem very hard workers and they have many talents that should be cheered on!. Very great craftsman there and great Artists I would love to see in person!.

Seeing Tunisia’s diversity reminds me more of London and I think that’s why I feel quite drawn to it. It has a cool mix. Even though I’ve never been, it looks like a second home. Their history is also very fascinating. Such beautiful architecture they have, it’s very poetic. Their people seem so lovely.

If I were a millionaire, I would go to those stalls and support their people. They deserve so much goodness for their hard work and as an Artist I think their Art deserves way more recognition!.

Sending love to all Tunisians! ❤️‍🩹

Generally speaking, Tunis is totally underrated. It‘s a city of stark contrasts that you can’t find in any other city in the world. The government should really market this city along with nearby Carthage, Sidi Bou Said and La Marsa as one as a top tier travel destination for affluent tourists.

I took the MyHeritage test. I am Dutch, but I was surprised when I saw the results:
34% Dutch/Javanese
28% Tunisia
11% Algeria
9% Morocco
7% Egypt
11% Portuguese.

To this day, I am still surprised.
I like the 28% Tunisia result because it is the only African country I have visited, and I really enjoyed my time there.

@MegaFreedom2006
The sheep you saw is traditionally kept for ram fighting, or more often simply for show and prestige, rather than for eating. It is an old tradition that still exists in some neighborhoods of Tunisia.🇹🇳

As for the traditional wooden doors, if you look closely, you’ll notice that they usually have two door knockers at the top and one lower down. Traditionally, the upper knockers were used by men, while the lower one was intended for women. This allowed the people inside the house to know who was knocking at the door without having to open it.

That was a good one Malini. The people were so kind and outgoing, which makes sense being in the heart of Medina/university, I guess. From the shway-shway chapati sounded good with olives and peppers, and the pillowy desert sounded exactly that yum. I've never been to Paris, but it did have an exceptionally authentic art vibe. If I was a millionaire I would pay for one of those giant wooden doors for a fair price and a new door. This trip goes in my top three, thank you. Ty

I spent the last 3 weeks in Tunisia (around Hammamet, Carthage etc...), I was also there back around the time of the Arab spring. It was fascinating going to some of the smaller lesser known historic sites. Love El Jem and Carthage. Also went to Puppet, Hammamet Fort and an ancient Necropolis. Met some lovely people.

Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, is a fascinating city which has a blend of all the civilisations that have added to its history, from the Berbers to the Arabs to the French, but it’s taken that and made a uniquely Tunisian culture which is unlike anywhere else in North Africa. What do you think of this city? 🇹🇳
