Torrential rains in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District in the North West has led to the closure of a number of roads in the area.
According to the Department of Community Safety the N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman remain closed while the N18 near Tigerkloof as well as the road between Schweizer-Reneke and Bloemhof has been closed after rain overnight.
The villages of Tamasikwa, Takaneng and Qho has been completely isolated as bridges are submerged.
Taung Dam is reported to be overflowing which may exacerbate the situation in the surrounding villages.
The Department has appealed to motorists to co-operate with law enforcement officers and not drive through flooded areas as a number of motorists had to be rescued already.
