It may seem weird for me to post this here, but please bear with me, because it's a slightly different angle on the same issue.

My mom grew up in the 1940s and 1950s. She used to tell me about her cousin, who - like the rest of our family - was white. Unlike the rest of the family, she tanned pretty dark in the summer. She had to wear wide-strapped bathing suits when she went out in the sun, and dresses with loose shoulders, because everywhere they went - a restaurant or a store, for example - the gatekeepers of those places would require her to show that tan line to prove that she was white.

Sometimes even white people aren't the "right" color. That's all.

I'm the type to push back. It's up to them if they wanna cause a scene behind it

He says that, as if it doesn't happen to white people in the presence of other races. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Everyone experiences name calling -and a kid will usually pick whatever they believe will be most offensive to you in order to get the greatest reaction. This isn't strictly something that happens to black people in white spaces. It would be lovely if people stopped viewing every interaction through the lens of race.

US racism is so out of control. If you said these sort of things in my world, I believe most people would drop you on the spot. Yes racism existsโ€ฆbut not in this vein. That despicable. I know itโ€™s your right, but I just wouldnโ€™t want to live in the US as a coloured person or an immigrant,โ€ฆ or gay, or woman, or sick person..๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Well did they get ya, dont keep us in suspense ๐Ÿค” I just dont know if I believe that...I mean does it happen yes But not that bold...i think the parents or who ever kind of padded the story a bit, scretched it around and this is the outcome....he doesn't rem it, it was told how the teller wanted him to hear it...MY OPINION ONLY THO.....
