Workers' Day celebrations in Limpopo

Simmering tensions in the ANC-led alliance dominated the main COSATU Workers' Day celebration in Limpopo. Leaders of the ANC, Cosatu, SACP and SANCO decried the state of the alliance, following the SACP's decision to contest elections independently. Last week, the ANC gave all its members with dual membership, ten days to choose whether they will be campaigning for the ANC or the SACP. Addressing the crowd at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, ANC Deputy President, Paul Mashatile said they must close ranks and forge a unity of purpose.
