Financial services group Nomura estimates that about 50 per cent of Asia's GDP growth was driven by AI in 2025, with chip exports and data centre investment among the contributing factors. Speaking to CNA’s Asia First, Sonal Varma, Nomura’s managing director and chief economist (India and Asia ex-Japan), says that the firm’s research has shown that AI has led to more hiring than job cuts.
