LGE 2026 | SAPS KZN readies for November polls

The police's crime intelligence unit in KwaZulu-Natal is assessing risks in the province to identify hotspot areas ahead of the local government elections in November.

Political killings have cast a shadow over the province in recent years.

At least 4 councillors or candidates in the upcoming local government elections have been killed since June.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Police Commissioner, Phumelele Makoba, told a media briefing in Durban that police are working on their security plans for the elections.
