Reed Dance | Maidens to gather at Emashobeni Royal Palace

About 30 000 maidens are expected to take part in the Umkhosi Womhlanga - Reed Dance ceremony at the Ema-sho-beni royal palace near Pongola over the weekend.

The festival celebrates youth and female empowerment.

Maidens will gather to cut reeds from the riverbanks and present them to the King.
