Turning to the official quarterly crime report, the Gauteng South African Police Service recorded notable decreases across core community-reported crime categories for the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year.

Overall contact crime dropped by 3.0%, translating to 1 135 fewer reported cases across the province.

Gender-Based Violence and Femicide cases saw a significant reduction of 9.1%, representing 209 fewer counts compared to the same period in the previous financial year.

Property-related crime decreased by 2.7%, with 478 fewer counts registered.
