Transnet reports R4.6bn net profit

State-owned logistics giant, Transnet is back in the black, after reporting a massive turnaround for the financial year ended March, 2026.

Following years of consecutive losses, the utility has posted a net profit of R4.6 billion, a staggering 344% improvement, compared to the previous year.

The group's total revenue rose by 7.1%, to R88.6 billion.

Transnet leaders attribute the performance to a vital operational rebound.

Freight rail volumes grew by 4.9% to nearly 168-million tonnes, up from roughly 160-million tonnes in 2025.
