* At least 24 children have died in a massive fire in Bukavu in eastern Congo.
The blaze tore through two schools and about 300 wooden homes, injuring at least 29 people.
Authorities warn that the death toll could rise.

* Three suspects have been shot dead, and another wounded, in a shootout with members of a private security company in Durban's Cato Manor.
* The Football Transformation Forum is going into Saturday's SAFA Elective Congress with a lot of confidence.
It say its candidate, incumbent Danny Jordaan, enjoys the support of most of SAFA's 52 regions.
Amazulu chairperson, Sandile Zungu, is going up against Jordaan.
