Why Poland really wants permanent U.S. bases | News in Depth

On Wednesday, Poland secured another $4 billion in U.S.-backed military financing, while Polish and American officials continue discussions on establishing a permanent U.S. military presence in the country. Why is Warsaw so determined to strengthen America's footprint on Polish soil? “Poland perceives threats differently than Denmark, the Netherlands, or Spain,” says TVP World's Political Editor Stuart Dowell in News in Depth. “More American equipment, more American soldiers, and a larger military presence increase deterrence,” he argues.
