With Merna: Finding common ground for the next generation

Earlier this year, Beijing's Temple of Heaven provided the setting for an important moment in China-US diplomacy. Beyond the headlines, the historic site is also part of everyday Beijing – a place where families gather and traditions are passed on.

There, CGTN Digital's Merna Al Nasser met Xiao Yi Jiejie (小一姐姐) and her daughter. Xiao Yi is a popular Chinese content creator with more than 20 million followers in China. What begins with a traditional Chinese finger dance opens into a conversation about family, culture and how traditions are passed on. Having also grown up across different cultures, Merna reflects on how, across cultures and societies, there is much we share and much we can learn from one another.

Perhaps common ground begins with something simple: the hopes we share for the next generation.
