MP allowance is not why Workers’ Party candidates step forward: Pritam Singh

"A sufficient MP allowance is not a reason Singaporeans choose to stand on the Workers' Party (WP) ticket," said WP chief Pritam Singh in parliament on Thursday (Sep 10), during a debate on changes to Singapore’s political salary framework.

He said remuneration was not unimportant, but argued that WP candidates were driven by their belief in a more democratic and balanced political system and were prepared to stand by their convictions despite significant odds.
