Most redundant appointment, Mayor.
Besides pay, what else can the government provide to get capable people to take up the job. Less time ? More family privacy separation ? Less pressure from ALL Singapore citizens & global questionings ? To be extrovert even if one is introvert.
Having too high a salary sometimes attract the wrong kind of people.<br><br>We should not be asking people for which 1 million and 2 million prevents them from serving to serve.<br><br>This is why we should not have too high a salary, we need to filter off these people.

Please, we get the opposition into parliament to provide alternative government over time. Not just check and balance, it's been 60 years. We need timeline for alternative government & plan like you question the government on pay. It's easy to question. Provide your alternative government plan to justify your plan is better in getting capable candidates.
