I worked at Apple and quit my job a couple of years ago, after I saw how deep AGI or call it super intelligence if you will, could go. I got this feeling earlier but lots of coworkers like Jacob are seeing the same stuff I do. Still; there’s no need to write sci-fi scenarios about AI. What goes around comes around. The direction is obvious, and the anxiety around it is already huge. Sooner or later it will slip out of control. The only humane instinct in all of this is demonizing AI. In Theory of Infinite Freedom I lay out what I think AI actually is — and we are clearly moving in that direction. The ones who will feel the shock first are government systems and the bourgeois class.

Companies developing AI are the ones who best know the technology. How can government who by definition is slow at anything it does try to regulate a technology that is advancing at leaps and bounds by the minute. I think it does not clear these companies of the responsibility they have as they develop this technology. I think they are playing with fire they know they are playing with fire and by saying someone should have an extinguisher in case I blow up the place they suddenly can keep playing with the fire.

The argument about regulation on AI by AI Compnaies, is the same as Fossil Fuel companies like BHP have been screaming for regulation on green house gasses, yet the American government have been reducing regulations.... Zero chance, they will regulate AI in any meaningful way until after a catastrophe occurs, and it would have to be major otherwise they'll just right it off, like the write off climate disaster after climate disaster.... All technology can kill us.... nukes, planes, ships... The hack happened because the developers left the door open for it. I highly recommend that people look into it. This is akin to giving a child a gun and letting him walk down the street - it's going to get a reaction. AI has real dangers which are overlooked because of ridiculous stories like this. It's more likely that we speed up global power demand, which impacts global warming or increases the price of power due to those growing power demands... but yea lets just keep pushing the sci fiction stories for headlines.
