that dust and water resistance doesn't mean shit. their warranty excludes it outright (as usual), and we have seen other foldables (using the same technology) fail miserably in real world conditions. they make a cool gadget but the practicality is abysmal.

Fold8 can be bought for 1400€ here in Germany, is much lighter and not a first gen product. I don't see this competing at all at that price point and doubt third party stores can sell it for much cheaper either since it's an Apple product. You'd have to be a diehard Apple fan to go for this over the much cheaper alternative

My last three phones have been used Pixel Folds (1st gen) because I like the squat form factor. It's not like I have small hands, but most modern phones require two-handed maneuvers just to reach the top.
Well, realistically, how would they actually implement a way to “dock” the pencil, maybe in the open position but that still means that it would have to be stored elsewhere when folded…I don’t think that there’s a clean and nice way of doing that.

It's not just squat the aspect ratio is basically √2, which means it keeps the aspect ratio when unfolded, and just doubles in size. The form factor is absolutely a win<br><br>It's like 0.02 and 0.01 from √2 depending on if its unfolded or not

The craziest thing for me is, your gonna see people with this iPhone, probably kids as well, begging for a PC 😭, when a pc might actually be cheaper if you get the right parts at the right price, specially a 1440p high spec machine ram is in limbo between 16-32gb. I’m pretty certain though, you can get a high spec pc for $1800 or so.

The biggest downside for me, aside from the price, is that the UI is completely optimized for right-handed users, which makes it difficult for left-handed people to use it at all.

i actually prefer the form factor that this one has, it fits most content better imo<br><br>like yeah when its folded its kinda bad, but if you're buying a $2000 folding phone, you should probably primiarly actually have it unfolded

Im still just so happy with the apple pencil support, as someone who has over 10+ notebooks that I've used to keep notes and reminders will be nice now that I could just have my phone and a pencil in my pocket. Honestly the apple pencil support was what sold me.

Downside: Apple has only just started in foldables, 7 years late. They are using Samsung screens, but Samsung won't provide Apple with the best they have. That's reserved for Samsung. They have a cheap, Matt finish screen which will scratch like heck and a crease that will show even more of the wear from age. The only things I see are software updates and an ugly, cheap to manufacture phone. <br>I guess the dog (apple) has an intestinal upset again because he just sprayed out some more diarrhea.

Regarding number 2, the smaller form factor when it's closed is what actually makes me interested in potentially getting it. I hate how even the regular Pro phones have become larger. Im currently still using the iPhone 11 Pro and this is the maximum size I find acceptable for a phone.

Personally as someone who often has problems with finger print stuff I always found faceID way better option. Elder people often have the same problem due to there skin being lets tough.

Touch ID being better than Face ID is a laughable opinion. Nothing has given me more trouble than touch idea with sweaty fingers. We already have a way to unlock the phone with touch, it's called a password. I don't need another.

happy for apple fans to finally get a foldable. You weren't missing out on anything though. They're still overrated except for very niche use cases. But Like the VR headset, people will buy it thinking its going to elevate their existence and then realize it was just unfounded hype.
i haven't seen anyone cover the hardness/toughness of the inner screen yet, only the appearance and crease. how exactly is an apple pencil <b>not</b> going to leave impressions and deformations in a folding screen like every other foldable on the market does with just fingernails?
