Section 89 Impeachment Committee puts evidence leader appointment on hold

The Section 89 Impeachment Committee has put the appointment of an evidence leader on hold, pending the outcome of court challenges to its decision to rescind Advocate Thandazani Madonsela's recommendation.

The committee has also voted to oppose the applications by the EFF and the African Legal Professional Association, with 19 members supporting the move and nine voting against it.

The urgent applications are expected to be heard in the Western Cape High Court on the 18th of September.
