Matipandile Sotheni case postponed to the 2nd of November 2026

The state claims that three cellphones were confiscated from a narrow space between murder accused Matipandile Sotheni's prison cell and a neighbouring one, during a raid two weeks ago at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre.

It says one of the phones can be directly linked to Sotheni and may have been used to communicate with someone on the outside regarding this case.

Sotheni is facing 16 charges, including allegedly being the hitman who killed Marius Van Der Merwe, also known as Witness D at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, as SABC News Senior Reporter Chriselda Lewis reports.
