Disastrous extreme weather: New reality?

Extreme heat, severe floods, landslides and recent disastrous Himalayan mudslides have all taken a steep toll this year. The UN has raised the alert on worse weather as the El Niño phenomenon could enter the "danger zone" in 2027. This year's El Niño could be the strongest in decades, according to a new update from the World Meteorological Organization. The recurring weather event is marked by unusually warm ocean surface temperatures in the Pacific, causing heatwaves and floods around the world. So, are these events the new reality? What more can be done to better adapt to extreme weather?
