The 18th BRICS Summit will be held in New Delhi, India, from September 12 to 13, with India assuming the rotating presidency. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the BRICS cooperation mechanism. Under the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," the summit aims to advance the priorities of Global South countries in trade, technology and development.
Moraima Ordonez, a Mexican student, says as an alternative built by developing countries themselves, the BRICS mechanism has become a major force, enabling different countries agreeing on key areas for common development. As a youth from the Global South, she believes that BRICS cooperation could bring positive outcomes for young people in areas such as education, technology, employment opportunities, cultural exchange and sustainable development.
