Massive disruption hits UK airports after air traffic control technical fault

Flights at major British airports were disrupted by a technical fault at air traffic control provider NATS, the latest in a series of failures that has renewed questions about the resilience of Britain's aviation infrastructure.

The hours-long shutdown resulted in the cancellation of more than 1 000 flights and and left hundreds of passengers stranded.

The shutdown comes three years after the last system meltdown in August 2023.
