Gqeberha Court postpones rape case

The case against a 22-year-old alleged rape victim has been postponed to the 29th of October by the Gqeberha Magistrates Court in the Eastern Cape.

This follows a protection order application by the alleged perpetrator after the alleged victim posted information about her alleged sexual assault on social media.

The 22-year-old was allegedly sexually assaulted in 2024, and the National Prosecution Authority initially declined to prosecute and closed the case.

The matter gained traction in July 2026 when the alleged victim published her story on social media.

An interim order was then issued to her and has also been extended until her next court date.
