UK sanctions Israeli settlements in occupied West Bank and other news stories | Global News Podcast

The UK has announced a ban on goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. France, Canada and nine other European countries will do likewise. UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband accused the Israeli government of turning a blind eye to what he described as the "ethnic cleansing" of Palestinians by Jewish settlers and said its inaction was undermining the possibility of a two-state solution. In response, the Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa'ar has said that Israel is shutting down the UK consulate in Jerusalem and expelling British representatives from the International Gaza Support Centre, among other measures. Mr Sa'ar said Mr Miliband's statement was a series of outrageous lies and amounted to a blatant interference in Israel's upcoming election.
