That was my first thought! How else could it happen when they are all about security. He wanted an excuse and a blank check.
@billisenberger7112
IDF personnel on the ground, including surveillance soldiers and intelligence officers, raised multiple red flags regarding imminent Hamas activity in the weeks and days leading up to the October 7, 2023 attacks, but these warnings were largely ignored or dismissed by senior command.

Why did it take over 8 hours for the army to do anything? Israel is the size of NJ defo doesn't take 8 hrs to mobilize as demonstrated by how quickly they can occupy southern Lebanon.

Much of Netanyahu's policy of appeasement towards the most destructive elements of Israeli society is intended to keep him in power and out of criminal investigations into his administration's security failures.

Two journalists are sitting at a Parisian café—one from Le Monde and the other from Haaretz. While sipping espresso and lamenting global affairs, they notice an Israeli tourist walking past. The tourist sees an elderly French woman trip on the curb, gently catches her arm, and steadies her before she hits the pavement.
Both journalists immediately spring into action, flipping open their laptops and typing furiously.
The French correspondent finishes first and proudly shows his breaking headline:
"Disturbing Incident in Paris: Israeli National Imposes Unsolicited Physical Contact on Local Senior in Broad Daylight."
The Haaretz writer glances at the screen, sighs in deep disappointment, and shakes his head:
"Honestly, you French journalists are always so superficial, seeing only the glass half full. Allow me to show you what real, courageous journalism looks like."
He turns his screen around, displaying a 3,000-word op-ed:
"The Stumbling Woman, the Unyielding Apartheid: How a Brutal Grip on a Parisian Street Exposes the Moral Rot, Systemic Racism, and Deep-Seated Colonial Pathology of the Modern Israeli Psyche."

And by using simple logic that propably means IDF did some of the alleged 1200 or atleast didn't care to minimize the number of victims. By using hellfire and tanks in hostage situations.
