Jake Tapper! Can you help??
Wasn't there a prominent "journalist/tv personality" that wrote a book about President Biden's mental decline, promoted on his tv show AND then went to various right leaning media to promote the book and apologize for not writing it sooner?
Who was that guy???
Gosh! It sure seems like President Biden's struggles PALE in comparison, on many levels, to what trump is displaying on a daily basis. I wonder if this same "journalist/tv personality" recognizes this and might use his position to point out these facts and very dangerous developments on his platform. Heck! Maybe even write a book and go on the few left leaning media to apologize for not doing so sooner.
Who was that guy??

There are two logical reasons in what passes for the brains of the Great Orange Orange One and his Secretary of Beerkegs… first, they’re just playing to the sensibilities of many in the South who still believe all of this about the South and the Civil War (half of my family is from the Deep South so I know this to be the case). The other reason is that they are value signaling to their supporters, that they may need to fight a Civil War on their behalf and they’d be considered heroes if they do…

Prior to the Civil War, the Democratic and Republican parties had very different platforms, geographic bases, and political identities compared to today.
The Democratic Party Stance on Slavery: Dominated heavily by the South, the party increasingly defended slavery and its expansion into new territories. By 1860, the party fractured completely along regional lines over the issue. Northern Democrats favored "popular sovereignty" (letting local settlers vote on slavery), while Southern Democrats demanded federal protections for slavery everywhere.
The Republican Party Stance on Slavery: Strictly anti-slavery expansion. When Abraham Lincoln was elected as the first Republican president in 1860 on a platform opposing slavery in the territories, it triggered the secession of Southern states and the start of the Civil War

They announced that they were leaving the union, they did leave, then the union refused to stop occupying Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. So, the confederacy fought to remove them. The confederacy was no longer part of the US so treason was impossible.

It is offensive. And it should be offensive. But how does hiding this offensive history help us to grow as a nation? Are we all not mature enough to look at this statue and reflect on our history, the pros and the cons, and to learn and grow from that? Instead the left treats us all like children who must be saved from ourselves; shielded and protected from anything offensive. No one can learn and move forward, grow and mature in our understanding of history, if the left keeps trying to hide everything it dislikes about it.

To go further, the left also wants to replace history with their own narrative of what happened. With their black and white thinking of history and their own ideas of who the villains and the heroes are. How about some self reflection on that? If the left is allowed to keep hiding the parts of history it dislikes then changing the historical narrative becomes much easier.

I do not choose to let politics tell me what to think. So i do not care that they are putting this statue back up, it’s an ugly part of history that should not be hidden. And there are far more important things happening in the world that need our attention.
