Cocaine theft accused denies involvement

The bail application for the 49-year-old man arrested for the 2021 theft of a multimillion rand drug consignment from a secure Hawks premises in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, will resume tomorrow at the Port Shepstone Magistrate's Court.

An investigation by the Hawks in Pretoria led to the arrest of Lucas Legabe last month.

The case relates to the theft of 541kg of cocaine, valued at about R200 million, after it was seized in June 2021 when Hawks investigators inspected a container at a depot in Isipingo, south of Durban.
