RGR | Fitzpatrick reflecting on a successful series

Sean Fitzpatrick is closely tied to South Africa through one of rugby history's greatest milestones.

He captained the famous 1996 All Blacks squad which became the first-ever New Zealand team to win a Test series on South African soil.

He frequently refers to that 2-1 series triumph as his greatest achievement in rugby, surpassing even his 1987 World Cup victory.

He has been back in South Africa for the 2026 Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Tour and reflected on this series in a chat with my colleague Thando Mxoli.
