Salary adjustments to cost about S$5m more annually if maximum increase applied: Chan Chun Sing

The upcoming changes to the salaries for political appointment holders will cost about S$5 million more annually if the 9 per cent maximum increase is applied to all, and about S$6.6 million more annually for MPs, says Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing.

Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (Sep 8), Mr Chan said the topic of political salaries is difficult to discuss, but the government needs to ensure that capable Singaporeans are not deterred from stepping forward.
