PM Lawrence Wong on leadership renewal and recruiting the next generation of leaders

Political renewal is not a one-off exercise and capable Singaporeans from different backgrounds must be brought in, says Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 8), Mr Wong said he had approached several senior Permanent Secretaries ahead of the last General Election, but none were prepared to make the move.

He said that it is “very hard” to find complete ready-made replacements for ministers at that level.
