Why Singapore chooses to deal with political remuneration openly

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said open discussions on how ministers are remunerated are intrinsic to Singapore’s model for governmental success, and why the public expects “a great deal” out of its leaders.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 8), Mr Wong said MP allowances are not “token allowances” as they carry “substantial responsibilities in Parliament and in their constituencies”.
