In this video we're working on a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus that came in needing a left rear axle seal and a set of rear brakes. The brakes are about as straightforw…

Torquing the nut is a myth.. there is lots of applications that have a "flag nut" and requires the bolt to be torqued. It's fine 😊
Oh and almost all techs that I have ever worked with or seen NEVER loads the suspension to ride height before tightening fasteners. They just do the "home run" and send it. 😂
Great job Eric thanks for the video
I call my wife a jr aircraft mechanic when we work on my airplane
The fact that the buckle hitting the aluminum pole generates the same tone and duration as a low battery warning on a smoke detector is wild!
alot of work, nice
Man, you’re having a rough day you almost stabbed yourself then you almost fell down 😂
The ptu takes the 1.18 pints. The rdu(rear diff) takes 28 ozs
this is like 2005 or later vw axel
Warning, may require use of pneumatic tools and percussive maintenance
54:50 is MY JAM
Thumbnail clickbated me,wanted to see if Mrs O would miss.😅
Stemco seal ?
Stem o seal ?
Put a zip tie around the circlip on the shaft, haul it as tight as you can get it to compress the clip then tap the shaft in and the zip tie will slide up the splines, as soon as the clip is inside then cut the zip tie off and slide the shaft home.
I used fluid film for the first time yesterday and I was not prepared for the smell! I'm getting notes of horse's ass and swamp... Does the job but man the smell is offputting!
That knuckle was a breeze to take out. Not normal for the rust belt. That must have been a nice change for you.
Eric you got me on the service data train. I use Mitchell DIY for 10+ vehicles. As you said" you can't trust service data or the scan tool" 😉😉
In Heavy Equipment that Seal is called a " Dual Cone Seal " !!!
I 100% thought it was a smoke detector!
Keep talking that smack!
Ever hard hearted any thing of the rear brack line if replace of new one
She swings a mean hammer;)
Probably takes 1.81 pints. Someone transposed the numbers.
Mrs. O, you definitely are a senior technician. If it was me helping Eric with the hammer, I probably would have missed at least a couple times.
If anyone deserves 1 mil subs it’s this man Eric O right here 🫡 💯 well done sir. Still remember the Honda ridgeline videos. The ol honduuu 😂
Mrs O doing the technical side of the repair 😉
What I like to do with those “snap rings” on the end of the Cv axles. I like to put alittle grease on the end to keep the snap ring from moving around keep it centered if you wanna call it. Seems to work for me and never have a issue with it not going back in
Junior technichian, no way, Mrs O hits like a pro 🙂
6 days late, but just had to pop in to say:
Anyone with 2 or more brain cells to rub together could've easily figured out that "beep" wasn't any sort of smoke detector. The interval between the supposed beeping was randomly inconsistent & only heard with the bay door[s] open.
A little more rubbing of those brain cells (mixed w. perhaps a bit o' Situational Awareness) would've figured out there's a flagpole nearby - w. the U.S.P.O. being the obvious culprit.

I swear, some people shouldn't be allowed on The Internet. And sadly, those same people vote.
I've noticed lately, yer Walter Brennan voice is gettin' there!
Mrs. O: "The Hammer"
Hi Eric, would be sick if you could make a video on wheel alignments.
so basically your shop isn't up to code since you don't have smoke detectors good to know so i never set foot in there
The name of that seal is PLAES: “Prone to Leak and Expensive” seal.
Saludos Eric 👍
The Chrysler 300 the Chrysler 200 used the temp. The tip of goes bad in those cars. That is most likely why you're engine stopped on the chrysler two hundred
Ounces, quarter, pints. We do the math????? What the heck are you on about Mr O, you can't expect us to do the math on your made up measurements. If you want us to do the math for you, I'm more than happy to help, but at least use real measurements. Thanks, everyone in the world who doesn't use ye olde English pretend measurements. 😂
Imagine living right next door to work, lmao get up walk next door
Eric, i like the quality and warm tone from your camera. What do you use for your videos.
Thanks buddy, have a blessed one.
18:20 👀 You forgot your safety glasses Brother. 😂
you did a great job but i had a good laugh when you squashed that container!
@21:20 The plugs on this rear diff are an order of magnitude less stupid than the ones on Gen 5 Explorers and PIUs. Those lack a drain plug, and the fill plug is behind the subframe rail so it's barely accessible. Be careful complaining that something is stupid, Ford (and the other makes) can always find a way to make it stupider.
I didn’t hear your “smoke detector” until you said something.😂
Congrats on the 1 million Eric! Nice work by Mrs. O!!
A seal story, now John at Farmcraft could get behind that...
Exelente video
You changing pads on that side due to putting a new rotor on? Fancy!
Wow, almost every channel gives in and gets sponsors. Almost. Project Farm won't do it either.
On my Outback, some gorilla put the drain plug in so tight on the rear diff that I had to replace the diff cover. I wish some of these so-called mechanics would just follow the tech data.
8:20 Slick move sliding the dawg with the 'talk' in there 😉
I can’t hear the flag pole because of my tinnitus.
Yeah Eric I did mention the 'smoke alarm' chirp before in other videos. It happens at exactly 5:07 in this video. But I was always wondering why I'd hear it once but it wouldn't be a consistent every 5 or 10 minute chirp like the dieing alarms usually do. I just thought it was odd and maybe it's behind a closed door sometimes or something else.🤷🏻♂️ Sorry 🤦🏻♂️😂🛠️
It's so entertaining watching a master at his craft. Watching your experiences is the best training.
Great iob Mrs O.
Now he says you can wind back the PB with a PP. I bought a $7 cube and did it by hand. No worries I don't have a power probe and won't be buying one.
Definitely that town has a twin on the other side of NY.
Were the sheep not in the audience to cheer for Fluid Film?
Torque people. It's always the torque people. 😅
brown goo on the steering wheel...let's hope it's coffee. 😆🤔💩
I never heard the beep
I was left hanging waiting for the "Thank you love"
I only do things in my driveway now & my compressor is on my back patio so I use battery powered tools unless I need real power, then I drag the compressor around. I love the sound of old school air tools. Nostalgia I guess?
Why does it make any difference between leading edge or trailing edge for the squealer??
I would NEVER reuse a seal of any kind. If you have to pull the component, replace the comparatively cheap seal.
The Silent Gaurd pads, once in a while I have customers complain about dust on thier wheels from them, few & far between but it happens.
I have heard the dinging before on videos from you, it always sounded exactly like something hitting a flag pole though.
Eric I noticed how careful you are with the car on the lift constantly looking as you move things. Is this a learned behavior from possibly screwing up a car in your past? 50+ years ago I was lowering a lift with the drivers door wide open and saw the car tilting on the lift. I went around the car and the door was on top of a tool box. I raised the car back up closed the door best I could and lowered the car down to the ground. The door was sprung so bad a bunch of guys had to hang on it to get it down enough to close it.
I always leave a bigger tip when Mrs. O. makes an appearance!

Plasti-Dip would also work for those clasps for the flag pole.
Hey, love your videos brother, ny father was a master mechanic for 42 yrs. Im from Az and stop by afew years ago just to get a couple pics of the shop and your lovely wife told me to wait you were on a test drive. When you got back you took time to take a picture and talk for 2.5min. I know you dont like to be bother but you were kind enough to take a few minutes of your busy day. I was on my east coast retiremement tour road trip. Good to see you are still doing what you love, wish you were out here in the desert, (no rust)state😂.
I'd rather spend the extra money for the right type of fluid than go to a auto parts store and put in a one size fits all product that will destroy my car.
I love to hear flag poles clanging and chirping, sounds like FREEDOM! Every time that flag pole chirps put old glory on the screen.
My Audis battery went dead and wiped out the SRS module. Very sensitive modules in these euro trash cars. Keep them on a battery tender if sitting.
Ah , the old spring loaded radial lip seal ( according to goggle ai's)
Just ordered my 1st Astro uggie duggie, been using an electric impact my entire life, excited to try it out, hope you receive your royalty payment soon 😁
Oh thank God you clarified the smoke alarm noise I was about to lose my mind. Yes don't get any Shmoo on the lug studs, the rust is way better for torquing the lug nuts 🥜.
I love Thor, the torque is impressive.
It looked fine on the computer. What do you mean it doesn't work?
This was an enjoyable video to watch Eric. A bit of the OG SMA good mechanical repair with Mrs O swinging on a hammer!
Hey Eric I installed a new security camera today. I purchased it last December. Why so long? I did an unintentional backflip down the basement stairs this past Feb and shattered my left arm. Surgeon did an amazing job putting Humpty Dumpty back together with steel mesh and screws. Made a total ass of myself in the hospital - yelling and screaming at the nursing staff when first admitted. Simply didn't want to be in there, and I don't like rules! I did get much better after a week though. At first, was such a pain, the staff wheeled my bed, with me in it, to a private room away from the other patients, so they couldn't hear me yelling and using inappropriate language at the nurses and any other hospital staff that happened to be walking by. Now - I give the nurses and everyone else at the hospital many kudos! They were amazing; I thank God for their understanding, courtesy, and tending to every need when they probably would have rather thrown me in the street during the 1st week. This Spring and summer will be wasted; couldn't do anything like gardening, outdoor chores, and landscaping, until a few weeks ago. Please Eric, Mrs O, and everyone else, no sympathy is needed; all is good. I just wanted to tell Eric and Mrs O about the camera. If the camera pickups movement, it follows the movement while making a video. If Mrs O wants a vid of herself using the hammer to keep for posterity, I'll bring the camera and there will be no charge.
For crying out loud Eric, can you please do something about that stupid smoke detector!😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤙
Go Vanessa!
Someone should do a mashup of Mrs. O hammering on top of Ian Dury and the Blockheads' "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick."
Title should have been "Mrs O Swings the Hammer"
You know we gonna click when the thumbnail shows Mrs O beating the drum
If you ever go on summer vacation to Hawaii, listen for the annoying smoke detector sound. That annoying beeping is everywhere. It took me a few days and a discussion with locals about what makes that sound. Turns out, with imported coffee plants from Columbia came tiny frogs that make a chirp exactly like a smoke detector.
Yay! Captain Brakleen lives! 😅😅
I think i watched every video this channel ever uploaded. You are the man Eric
2nd pad had squealer on out board
At first I thought you were very brave to hold the extension and let Mrs. O loose with the hammer, then we got to see that she has a much better aim than you do. Nice job Mrs. O, Chalk one up for our side❣️❣️❣️❣️
Before the car goes on the lift, take a second to measure from hub center to the bottom of the fender trim in mm. That’s your ride height you can set with the screw jack when torquing the suspension (to factory specs, of course)
Gooey on the Gui. There's something new.
I wanted to pass by you when we came back from Rochester for the last eclipse. My brother wasn't interested. Sigh. Maybe I can find another excuse later.
btw; the eclipse was a bust because of heavy clouds. I can't believe it was 2 years ago.
Good job not smashing Professor O Mrs. O! 💪
👍😎✌
Always a good day when Mrs. O gets to whack something !
We love seeing Mrs o on camera
Now that’s some trust…asking your spouse to swing the hammer while you’re holding the driving tool. Great job, that’s a marriage to be proud of having!
The 'downward dog' position for the snap ring makes a lot of sense to me. If the opening is up, the ends of the snap ring can dig into the groove in the shaft and drag when being compressed providing some additional resistance to collapsing. By hanging the opening down you avoid that problem.
Good thinkin'.
17:20 - May I take the time to complement Mrs. O's marksmanship (markswomanship?) with the hammer? Perfectly hit, even adjusting to where Mr. O put the 'nailhead'. Nicely done, Mrs. O, I wish I was that accomplished!
Its a typo in the service data. It should read 1.81 pints. That's what it took. Someone typed the 8 and the 1 out of order.
Use ear protection when using the Dog.
Hi do you have a part number on that seal installer tool. Great video
I put a very small amount of grease on the oring to center it before I try to get it set.
