Al Gore on why energy disruptions could accelerate Southeast Asia’s renewable transition

Energy disruptions from the US-Iran war have caused “a recalculation” of energy policies in Southeast Asia and the rest of Asia, former US vice-president and environmentalist Al Gore told CNA on Monday (Sep 7). Mr Gore said that these disruptions could accelerate the region’s transition to renewable energy, highlighting “a dramatic surge” in investments in solar and wind technologies since the war began.

“The fact that the wind and the sun can't be sold for a profit
requires a reassessment of some of the business models of the past to recognise that the future is with sustainable technologies that are better in every way,” he said. #usnews #usa #algore
