For all the uninformed Americans who seem to love to chime in, England had a civil war 350 years ago, between parliamentarians and royalists ( you can still see this to this day in Britain bullet and cannon holes in buildings)parliamentarians won and we killed the king and became a republic, we decided we quite like the monarchy so we re-instated it, on the caveat that parliament thereby the people, controls the monarch, not the other way round. <br>Ever since, the monarch reigns but parliament rules, therefore if you do not work by parliament rules, then you do not get the money. H&amp;M aren’t working for the monarch or thereby the govt, therefore they aren’t eligible for taxpayer funding. The king is just re-iterating they are not working royals and therefore parliament does not have to pay for them as they are not willing to work by parliaments rules.
