Buddy system is BEST. I agree but I feel that now a days it is not SAFE for boy or girl to be walking alone due to child trafficking. I’m sorry but 5 is really young. Mine did not walk to a school bus alone at age 5. You said he looked frightened with the security guard. I know he hadn’t done anything wrong but imagine how frightened he would have been if it wasn’t just a security guard and someone meant him harm.

I understand needing to keep a watchful eye on children under a certain age… but this is downright ridiculous.

Who wants to bet that the Karen(s) who filed this complaint grew up in an era where they were out until the streetlights came on or the cowbell was shaken? 🤔

I thought we wanted our kids OFF phones and playing/exercising outdoors?!?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

If this case is valid, my single dad essentially turning myself- 9- and younger brother into "latch key kids" in 1961. He was often traveling on company buisiness, a neighbor was sort of our "watcher", but only in a very loose sense- basically, brother and I raised ourselves. That had some bad points to it - but a no point was it unsafe.
Fred

Why are any people having more than 3 children? It's ecologically irresponsible. Adopt.
You are probably a great mom. I don't know that CPS immediate involvement was needed. However no matter how able you believe your 5 year old to be our current world is not safe for children under 10 to go outside your property anywhere alone. Even if your child knows not to go near strangers, not to cross the street etc. a child of that size alone could be taken, So easily.

Latchkey kid here. Survived fine and have lived a successful life. Glad I was capable and knew how to take care of myself.
@maryamabusaidi8679
Gated community doesn't mean it's 100% secure. Criminals have ways of getting inside. Because it didn't happen before doesn't mean it will never happen, it only takes one successful abduction, then she'll have to blame herself for the rest of her life. If she's so confident that she is willing to take that risk it's her choice. But it's always confident risk takers that would suffer the consequences.

Many countries in Northern Europe like Finland are so safe that the vast majority of children walk to school without parents. This was inside a gated community. Let people be parents. This was completely commonplace in the decades passed. Gen-X kids basically raised themselves from 5+😅 So much for "FREEDOM"🙄 Totally overblown.
