Seven Students Died In Delhi’s Satya Niketan. What We Found On The Ground

Brut journalist Meghna Kanwar went to Satya Niketan to report from the ground and speak to the people who witnessed the collapse and its aftermath.

She spoke to eyewitnesses and residents about what happened, the difficulties faced by rescue teams, and how narrow lanes can make it difficult for emergency services to reach the area. The report also looks at the condition of buildings in the neighbourhood and the reality of student accommodation in one of Delhi’s major student hubs.

The Satya Niketan collapse has raised wider questions about the safety of PGs and unauthorised construction in Delhi, with authorities now ordering inspections of nearby PGs and other buildings.
