Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula on trial - A look at her timeline

Former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is facing serious criminal charges in the High Court.

The state has formally charged her with 12 counts of corruption and one count of money laundering.

Prosecutors allege that she solicited R4.5 million in bribes, with R2.1 million reportedly received in cash. The alleged illicit payments took place between 2016 and 2019 and were linked to lucrative defence force tenders while she served as Minister of Defence.
