Malaysia lifts emergency declaration in Sarawak district as fire haze eases

Malaysia lifted the state of emergency in Serian district, Sarawak on Monday (Sep 7) after haze from forest fires in Indonesia eased. It however cautioned that air quality remains poor in some areas.

Meanwhile, a 5-day cloud-seeding operation by the Royal Malaysian Air Force brought heavy rain over the state capital of Kuching, offering residents some relief.
