Why Bangkok is putting the brakes on new data centres

Data centres have been popping up across Bangkok, including in residential and commercial areas, with many classified as warehouses or offices, rather than industrial facilities. Concerns over noise, environmental impact and regulatory loopholes have prompted the Thai government to halt new data centre licences as it works on new rules.
