Super is for retirement, period. If you take super out you lose on the back end resulting in the tax payer having to foot your retirement bill. Not to mention if everyone has automatic access to thousands of dollars prices go up.

Sure allow this only if you sign away your ability to get a pension at the back end of life.

The current government want money locked in super and then see it as a funding source for them later. If they are just going to take it via tax or what ever, give it to us. It's our money after all!

Look at the so called “left” arguing against people accessing their own money for an essential good

this is nuts. People generally don't understand interest and how it works, you take this money out now and you lose big at the end of the day + if everyone can take out the money now EVERYTHING just gets more expensive. This is soo dumb.

A sensible logical approach by ONE Nation to the labor's housing disaster . Labor prefers to spend billions on public servants and consultants to build zero new housing stock instead

Typical of One Nation to have not considered the possible effect on inflation. They have zero responsibility for the budget, so they'd be fine with creating another problem for the government. And has anyone asked employers how they feel about this?

The Pension system in Chile was very similar to the Australian system. When the left-wing government of Gabriel Boric allowed citizens to withdraw their pension funds during the lockdown it caused the share market to collapse and inflation to surge. This forced people to withdraw yet more money from their pension system, which resulted in the whole system collapsing. I suspect Boric likely never liked the old system as it was created by a right wing government and reduced governments consolidated revenue. While the Australian superannuation system was flawed when created, the following conservative government improve it dramatically, which I feel makes it one of the best system in the world, especially now the Chilean version was destroyed. The lesson here is be very careful when you play around with pension systems, it can have a lot of negative consequences.

After honestly explaining to Australians that taxes will have to increase to fund future pensions (we have the lowest grown in pension liabilities in the world). Let people know that our balance of payments to overseas lenders would push interest rates up as our $4.5 trillion Super funds overseas income would decrease. Sure let them access super... after they pay the tax difference. I'm not interest in subsidising them.
