Its ok for Israel to have nukes threatening their neighbors but if Iran gets nukes, it not ok. This is an example of the "security dilemma". This conflict has been going on for decades, even before 1979. It wont be resolved by bombs. Just like Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Gaza, Ukraine, there is no military solution for long term strategic peace and security. That would require patience, trust, diplomacy, empathy and other qualities that the US has lost fron its tool bag.

Civilian-crewed commercial ships are not automatically military targets. We should probably be discussing the words “war crime” before treating this like another routine escalation.

Were they sunk or disabled? I have heard both terms. Sunk means sunk...on the bottom of the Strait. Disabled means possibly able to be towed into port. Disabled means less likely to leak oil (even 'empty'). I hope this is just media hyperbole.
