Minor battling rare genetic disorder seeks Sh5 million for treatment

An 11-year-old grade five pupil at the Kimorori Primary School in Maragua constituency, Murang’a County, has been forced to stop attending school after falling ill with a rare condition that has affected his ability to walk, speak and perform basic tasks independently. Franklin Ndung'u Kamau was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that damages the protective myelin sheath around nerves in the brain and spinal cord, thereby impairing the adrenal glands. A 5-million-shilling hospital bill is standing between Franklin and a normal young person's life, an amount the mother is hoping well-wishers can help her raise.
