On CNN's State of the Union, Energy Secretary Chris Wright noted that as the high-travel summer season concludes, overall consumer demand is set to fall. "Gasoline production is about to go up and demand is about to go down." The Trump administration adjusted blending requirements to allow American refiners to boost gasoline output, though Wright criticized several Democratic-governed states for not adopting the standards. Wright emphasized that the market itself expects a downward trajectory, pointing out that the gasoline futures market was pricing fuel about 30 cents a gallon lower two months out.
