I was a stay at home mom of 2 children (as a Gen-x latchkey kid I wanted better for my kids) and now I've been told I will not be able to collect social security when I'm of retirement age because I don't have enough work hours, even though I worked a full time job, as well as part-time jobs throughout, from 18 yrs old until 31 yrs old. Also, stay at home moms are doing plenty of work taking care of their family especially when you homeschool too as our family did so I'm very happy to hear this news and I hope it happens. Or at the very least if a parent chooses to be a stay at home parent let them accumulate work hours to be able to get social security one day. My grown kids are now law abiding citizens, one graduated from college with 2 degrees (attended college having earned a Bright Futures Scholarship), and is working full-time while my other grown child is still attending college full-time.

I'm 62 and I loved that my mom was home for us after school. She always made us dinner, breakfast and made our lunch when we were small. As we got older she taught us to make our own. We helped her cook dinner while she taught us how. I could go on and on.
Parents need to be where their offspring can quickly gain their attention and receive the care only they can supply.

Im a stay at home parent, currently. My wife is a first responder. Im a technician that wants to work but, due to child care. Have to be home. And allow my wife to be gone days at a time saving lives.

I married while we were both enlisted in the Air Force. Already living on a very low income I knew how to budget. We had our first baby and moved 45 minutes from our base because we could afford a home up on the mountain within our budget. We had our second baby and our budget got tighter but I worked it out. But then I got orders to take a back to back remote tour for a year and with a toddler and a new born I said “No”. I would not leave my new born and toddler and I knew my husband would not know how to budget like me and we’d have the extra expense of day care ( we’d worked different shifts so one of us was always with the babies). So my husband just said just take the maternity discharge and get out, God always makes a way. I did and home schooled our children way before it was even a thing. We never got government help but my husband did take part time work when we needed it. We lived tight for 25 years our now 48 years of marriage. We are living proof it can be done and your needs can get met but not all your wants. The government is always looking for ways to bribe folks to vote for them and need to stop! Start paying off America’s debt, get folks off welfare who can work and work harder at bringing good jobs back and lower prices for everyone! Do the things that will truly make America Great Again and we the people will do our part on our own!

I took care of children in my home for many years. I comforted many tearful young mothers who had to return to work after a short 6 week maternity leave. They desperately wanted to be able to stay home with their infant, but couldn't afford to. If this idea comes to pass, it will give these moms what they have never had....a choice.
