Her defence argues that the State has failed to present sufficient evidence to justify putting her on trial for the corruption charges she faces.

Mapisa-Nqakula is accused of soliciting millions of rands in bribes while serving as Defence and Military Veterans Minister-allegations she has consistently denied.

A successful Section 174 application could see her acquitted before she is required to present a defence.
