This Heritage Month, the Thabo Mbeki Foundation and Classics on Turf will restore the legacy of Reverend Tiyo Soga with another commemorative concert at the Rhema Bible Church.
Reverend Tiyo Soga was one of South Africa's first published black intellectuals, the first to translate Pilgrim's Progress into Xhosa, the founder of 'Indaba in 1862' to preserve indigenous knowledge, and was publishing hymns like Lizalis' idinga lakho, Vuthelani ixilongo.
This tribute features composer and vocalist Mandisi Dyantyi, the Renaissance Singers, and the Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg, under conductor Kutlwano Masote.
For more we are joined by Thabo Mbeki Foundation COO Lukhanyo Neer, and Patron of Classics on Turf, Zwelibanzi Mntambo.
