He taught himself traditional Teochew crafts as a boy. More than 40 years on, he's still learning

Mr Francis Tan Kwee Chye began teaching himself traditional Teochew crafts when he was nine, improvising with chocolate wrappers, scrap wood and a penknife. Today, he continues honing his skills, sometimes spending weeks on a single piece. But as cheaper alternatives become readily available online, the craft he has spent decades mastering is slowly disappearing in Singapore. (Video: CNA/Mak Jia Kee)
