Nepal rescuers defy worsening weather as survivors found after 10 days

Two more people have been found alive in Nepal after being trapped under mud and debris for 10 days following catastrophic flash floods, a day after two workers were pulled from a tunnel at a separate site.

Nepalese army teams brought out a survivor, weak but conscious, from the Trishuli 1 hydroelectric plant. He told rescuers he is a Chinese national before being airlifted to safety. Further south in Nuwakot, police rescued 64-year-old Chandika Shrestha from the fourth floor of a partially submerged house and took her to Kathmandu for treatment.

Near Syapru Besi, helicopters ferried search teams to the Chilime hydroelectric station, Nepal's first, where rescuers believe three people could still be alive inside a tunnel.
