Arbor Month launched in Libode

Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment, Bernice Swarts, has urged rural communities to be environmentally friendly to minimise the impact of climate change in the countryside.

Bernice says torrential rains and droughts could be averted by minimising the burning of fossil fuels and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

She was speaking during the launch of Arbor Month in Libode in the Eastern Cape.
